Turn Windows 11 Into GTA 6 — Full Customization Guide

This setup transforms Windows 11 into a GTA 6-inspired desktop: a phone-style Start menu, custom taskbar, minimap, wanted stars, GTA-style top bar, custom cursors, and even a custom lock screen. Everything is built with free tools like Windhawk, Rainmeter, and YASB, plus custom files and code.

Important: Extract the setup folder directly to your C:\ drive. Several parts of this setup depend on that exact folder path.

1. GTA 6 Wallpaper

Start with a wallpaper that sets the GTA 6 mood. Rockstar has uploaded official GTA 6 wallpapers, but there are also plenty of community-made options if you want something more specific.rainmeter

  1. Download your preferred GTA 6 wallpaper.
  2. Right-click the image file.
  3. Select Set as desktop background.

2. GTA 6 Cursors

The custom cursor pack uses a neon color scheme that matches the GTA 6 theme. It includes a crosshair for precision work and a resize cursor, which makes the setup feel more game-like.

  1. Download the setup folder and extract it directly to C:\.
  2. Open the extracted folder and go to Cursors.
  3. Right-click install.inf and select Install.
  4. Approve the administrator prompt.
  5. Search Windows for Mouse settings.
  6. Open Additional mouse settings.
  7. Go to the Pointers tab.

Download Windhawk from the official website and install it. Then install the following mods:

  • Taskbar Styler
  • Start Menu Styler

4. Rainmeter: Minimap and Wanted Stars

Installation

  1. Download and install Rainmeter.
  2. Open the Fonts folder from the setup package.
  3. Select all fonts, right-click, and choose Install.
  4. Go to the Rainmeter folder in the setup package.
  5. Double-click the Rainmeter skin installer.
  6. Accept the installation prompt.

5. YASB: GTA-Style Top Bar

YASB Reborn is a highly configurable status bar for Windows. It supports live system data, custom widgets, theming, and deep customization.github+1

In this setup, YASB creates the GTA-style top bar. It can show information such as network speed, CPU usage, RAM usage, and other system stats. It also includes a pause-menu-style power menu with a special WASTED shutdown button.

When clicked, the screen turns grey and displays a large red WASTED animation before shutting down the PC. Press Esc during the animation to cancel it.

Installation

  1. Download YASB from the official website or GitHub releases.
  2. Install and launch YASB.
  3. Copy everything from the YASB folder in the setup package.
  4. Right-click the YASB icon in the system tray.
  5. Select Open Config.
  6. Paste the copied files into the configuration folder.
  7. Right-click the YASB icon again and reload the app.

6. Custom GTA 6 Lock Screen

The final step is the custom lock screen. It uses a custom Windhawk modification and a special lock screen wallpaper to create a depth effect where the clock appears to disappear behind the skyscrapers.

  1. Open Windhawk.
  2. Go to Start Menu Styler.
  3. Click Fork.
  4. Open the windhawk mod.txt file from the setup folder.
  5. Copy the entire code.
  6. Replace the existing code in the forked Windhawk mod.
  7. Click Compile Mod.
  8. Wait for compilation to finish, then exit the editor.
  9. Copy the contents of Lockscreen.yaml.
  10. Open the Lock Screen Styler mod in Windhawk.
  11. Paste the YAML code into Textual mode.
  12. Save and enable the mod.
  13. Open the lock screen image from the setup folder.
  14. Click the three-dot menu and choose Set as lock screen.
